What section 33 of the BCEA requires
- Employer's name and address
- Employee's name and occupation
- Period the payment covers
- Remuneration in money
- Every deduction and what it is for
- The actual amount paid
- Overtime, Sunday or public holiday pay where relevant
Typical deductions
- PAYE — from the SARS tax deduction tables
- UIF — 1% of pay up to R17 712 a month
- Pension, provident or medical aid if agreed
- Any other deduction only with written consent
Employer's side
Employers also pay 1% UIF, and 1% Skills Development Levy once annual payroll exceeds R500 000. PAYE, UIF and SDL are paid to SARS monthly on the EMP201 by the 7th.
Domestic workers
Domestic workers are covered by the BCEA and must get a payslip too. UIF registration is compulsory if they work more than 24 hours a month.
