Questions

How much is UIF in South Africa?
2% of remuneration: 1% deducted from the employee and 1% paid by the employer, on earnings up to R17 712 a month — a maximum of R177.12 each.
Do freelancers pay UIF?
Independent contractors generally don't contribute to UIF on their own income. You must register and pay UIF once you employ someone for more than 24 hours a month.
Who pays UIF to SARS?
The employer pays both portions to SARS monthly with the EMP201, or to the Department of Employment and Labour if not registered for PAYE or SDL.
